Yellow Page Ad Content Not Design Will Get You More Leads
When placing or renewing an ad in the yellow pages it is important to remember that the most important design aspect of the ad is the content.
Pictures, artwork, and colors attract the eye and those ads will get looked at first. But unless you are in a listing category that has more than a dozen or so ads, or ads that cover over two pages, chances are that a person looking through the yellow pages will eventually look at all the ads in that category before making a phone call.
So preferably before the yellow page salesperson comes to your door, think about the content of the ad first. The salesperson will try to push you into upgrading your ad to color, etc, but make sure that your content is there to get leads otherwise all the fancy colors will do nothing except cost you more money.
What you need to do to get your ad to get you more leads is to motivate the person to call you. You do this by getting them to agree with what you have written in your ad.
Here are some tips as to what you should be writing in your yellow page ad:
- List some facts about your company to show your reliability such as years in business, number of customers, etc.
- Tell people why they should buy from you such as lowest prices, non commisioned salespeople, best guarantee in town, largest selection, etc.
- Include your web address. Have a line saying 'Visit our website www.example.com for more information'.s Make sure your website is professional however. People will find a lot more information about you online that you are not able to put into a small ad.
In general when someone is looking in the yellow pages for a service or product it is because they do not know where else to go. They do not know the difference between company A or company B.
The biggest fear of a potential customer when choosing an unknown company is will this company be reliable and fairly priced, and have good products or services. This is what you need to convey with your advertisement in the yellow pages.
Information, not design will get you the most leads.
