Product Names Matter

You've probably spent alot of time choosing the name of your company, after all it gives a first impression about your company.
But how many of you have given more than a passing thought to the names that you call your products?
The names you have given to your products can be very important marketing tools.
For example, you can't walk into a McDonalds and ask for a plain old burger, you need to ask for a Big Mac, McNuggets, or McChicken, etc. Anyone can make a hamburger, only McDonalds has a Big Mac, get it. They have branded a very common food item and made it their own.
Starbucks probably is the most extreme example. I mean it sounds like an entirely different language when people go to order. You don't order a regular coffee, you order a Grande Half-Caf Mocha Frappucino concoction of some sort.
But you get the point, these very successful businesses have taken very common food items and made them more exciting by given them different names.
This doesn't only work for products, you can rename services as well. Credit card companies for example offer their customers Platinum Cards, Gold Cards, etc. The card name is symbolic of the prestige that one is thought to carry.
If you offer different levels of services, you too can rename them.
For example, a photographer may call the various packages he offers by calling them Gold Package, Silver Package, Sapphire Package etc. Try to choose names that fit with the subject matter. Don't just call them package A, B, C or 1, 2, 3. That's really boring. Would you prefer to buy the Sapphire level package, or package C?
Product names matter! They are very important for marketing.
So, is it possible for you to rename your products or services to make them more exciting or exotic to potential customers?
