Create Different Formats of the Same Product

An important aspect to remember about marketing is that not all your products or services are one size fits all.
By creating different versions or formats of your products, you will be appealing to different cusomers.
This is very easily noticed when going grocery shopping where we see it all the time, you will see different size packages of the same food item. The super large sized jar of peanut butter may be attractive to someone shopping for a large family, but would last a single person a year or more. At the same time, that large 50 pack box of waffles just would not be practical for someone living in an apartment without a deep freeze to store them in, so they sell boxes of 12 instead.
Take a look at your product or service, is there a way that you can reformat it so that it can appeal to many different customers?
Here are some ideas to help you start thinking.
Make your product:
Bigger - the same prodcut in a larger format
Smaller - removing some of the item and marketing it to people with less space
Bundling - grouping your product withe a other similar products as a package deal
Gift item - is it possible to make your product into something that may be a good gift
This concept does not only work for physical items. You can also reformat a service that you perform as well. So for example, if you are offering your services to a residential clientele, is it possible to brach out and provide the same service to corporate customers?
Make your service:
Full service - add additional services to your existing service
DIY - sell kits for people who want to do it themselves with a little training that you can provide
Shipping - offer different shipping or transport options to appeal to different customers.
There are lots of ways to reformat your existing product, service, information, or any other asset that you company has at it's disposal. You just need to think about who else may be interested in a variation of what you sell and create the right 'size' for that group of people.
